RIO HONDO COLLEGE – CENTRAL PLANT
Client
RIO HONDO COLLEGE – CENTRAL PLANT
Location
Whittier, CA. USA
ADC’s architectural design of the Whittier, CA-based Rio Hondo College campus’s new 5,000-square-foot Central Plant, enhances a campus that is modernizing. The facility’s color scheme and integration with the campus terrain mute direct view into a 6,500-ton chiller on the maintenance yard side. Twenty-four-foot green wire mesh screens on the campus-facing side obscure the view. The one-story 800 BHP plant was constructed of glazed masonry blocks, whose natural hues blend easily into the rising terrain. The facility cost-effectively meets the institution’s energy needs, and its architectural design contributes to a comfortable campus environment in an on-the-move urban setting.
